The Saunamarathon Schaffhausen 2027 offers a diverse program for everyone who loves warmth, movement, and community. From the atmospheric opening ceremony to the cozy fountain bathing and relaxing banja ceremonies, to the competition Saturday with many unique sauna locations – every moment is an experience. Discover the highlights and enjoy the interplay of wellness, fun, and regional culture.
New: A whole extended sauna weekend with entrance fees included!
At the last sauna marathon in February 2026, around 2,000 sauna enthusiasts took part – thank you very much! Based on the experiences of this edition, we are further developing the event: in 2027 the sauna marathon will become an entire sauna weekend. It will take place from April 5 to 9, 2027 – with less stress, more time, and additional experiences around the marathon.
Saturday, May 8, 2027: The Sauna Marathon!
The core remains as you know it: The marathon itself takes place on Saturday. We are introducing fewer locations with more saunas per location – so that you can spend more time in the sauna and less time waiting in line. The number of tickets is limited.
Wednesday to Sunday: Additional events around the marathon
On Wednesday evening (May 5), on the day of the race (May 6), on Friday (May 7) and on Sunday (May 9), you can look forward to a program to enjoy. For example, relaxed, multi-hour sessions in the Russian/Ukrainian bath and the Latvian pirts, sociable fountain bathing, exclusive wine and beer tastings with matching sauna desserts or the legendary warm-up party are planned. The additional events are voluntary and do not count towards the evaluation of the Sauna Marathon.
Our tip: Stay in the Sauna City all weekend
Those who stay in Schaffhausen from Wednesday to Sunday will experience the most: You will be present at all the program events, enjoy the days without haste and get to know sauna friends from all over the world. In addition, Schaffhausen and the region have much to offer in the spring (Rhine river cruises, Stein am Rhein, Randen, Rhinefall etc.). Book your accommodation as early as possible – there is a lot going on at Auffahrt.
